Sunday, July 17: Richfield Springs, NY-2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Miles: 53

Lot: Skinner-Damulis Field

On this morning's jump I passed by Carolyn's truck, which had broken down again.

I gave Joel (who presents the camels and does his rope spinning act) a lift so he could help Mike set up at the lot.

We had a good talk on the remainder of the jump; for awhile I had been meaning to chat with him to hear about his background, and this was the perfect opportunity.

There was a 3 mile long steep hill not too far from town. It was bad, but not as bad as one of the ones we encountered earlier in the season.

The lot in Richfield Springs was very hilly, and the back yard was parked right on the edge of a scary drop off. Tavo warned us to put blocks behind our trailer tires if we were going to unhook our trucks.

Circus fans, Don and Barbara, were here visiting for a couple of days, so I spent some time chatting with them in the morning.

They have a Winnebago very similar to Mr. North's, and last year when Ryan and I were going to negotiate our contract, we didn't pay attention and knocked on their door instead.

I lucked out and was able to get paid almost as soon as the show office opened. I paid off my debt to the show this morning; whoopee!

Both shows today were 3/4 full, but unfortunately the audiences were pretty miserable.

The one bright ray of sunshine in the day was that our clown/ringmaster friend, Eggroll, surprised us with a visit.

We had a great BBQ after the shows with Eggy, and we got to hear some hilarious stories.
